Our philosophy is simple: the best way to learn something, is to do it. We prepare you for the rigors of working in the print design and web design industry by teaching cutting edge technologies in a hands-on format.

Graphic Design career education program curriculum merges academic rigor, exposure to current technologies, and applicable experiences through an active project-based curriculum.

Develop Your Skills

Develop and enhance essential critical and creative thinking, fundamentals of design, and production technical skills. Your creativity and skill set have no boundaries.

Students are provided with experience in design and layout, typography, desktop publishing, illustration, photo editing, photo shoot direction, pre-press production processes, interactive multimedia, motion graphics and animation for web, and web design and development. Students are also trained to utilize the leading graphic design software and latest web design technologies.

Award-Winning Design

We love to brag about our students. For instance, students have won numerous American Advertising Federation (ADDY) awards, Iowa Community College Advertising Design Invitational (ICCADI) awards, Hawkeye Community College Student Artshow awards, and Graphic Design Program awards.

Awards range from scholarship, monetary, trophy, certificate, and equipment. Two 1st term students can earn a $600 entry scholarship. One 4th term student will be selected to receive the $1200 Harry K. Watts Scholarship.
